The DCEP Inc. Annual Report launched at the AGM this week highlights the community support provided in 2020-2021 and the performance of the Plico fleet.
DCEP is the not-for-profit association that provides representation for Members under the Plico Energy community ownership model. This models means that all Plico Members are also members of DCEP. The DCEP Committee makes decisions about the Community Fund and Utility Support Fund - where Plico Members' $250 membership fee is invested.
In 2020-2021, DCEP set up the mechanisms and processes by which these two funds are managed. The Committee was proud to support the Djiljit Mia Community Gathering Place in Dunsborough and looks forward to supporting more community projects that build greener, healthier and more resilient communities.
Plico Energy also went through a major transformation last financial year. This south west start-up is now a major player in the energy sector. We more than doubled our membership to 311 households as of June 30. Our aggregated network of Solar Battery Systems produced an incredible 1512 MWh, exported 630 MWh back to the grid and our battery storage increased by 1.4 MWh to 2.8 MWh. Importantly, we also reduced carbon emissions by over 3000 tonnes.
Plico Members are part of the largest community energy project in the state and through DCEP that success is being shared with the wider community to build a more sustainable future.
